“If a task is once begun, never leave it till it’s done. Be the labour great or small, do it well or not at all.”
These words are the spirit in which we start this magazine, a culmination of years of effort by the student committees at NALSAR and this editorial board. Efforts to start a college magazine have been made for many years, since atleast 2018 officially. But this online semester has given us all a lot of time, which has given us the will to try new things. So, despite the various hurdles, we start this initiative today.
One of the biggest casualties of our online classes has been college life. One batch has graduated on a Webex call, and for another, college has been nothing but a series of Webex calls. In such an atmosphere, we naturally feel the longing to express and connect on things beyond only the subject of law. This magazine hopes to be that space where we can discover each other, our interests and talents and recreate some sense of community not barred by niche barriers. We want to be the forum where everyone can express themselves, and not restrict creativity as gatekeepers of some creative merit. We want to start conversations, allow you to ramble, poke fun at everything under the sun and maybe in the process get you interested in doing that as well.
Though today our marks are all over it, over time we hope the magazine will develop an identity of its own, independent of the people who started or run it. We don’t know what that is yet, but we’re hoping to find that over time – learn from you our readers and grow as our justice city does. As said in the beginning, once begun never leave till it’s done – we have begun this journey today, but I doubt we’ll ever be done.
